Welcome Reception

Wednesday 4th October

7:30 PM

Come and join us for the welcome drinks reception and canapés in Edinburgh City Chambers with the Lord Provost. The city chambers is situated on the historic Royal Mile in the centre of Edinburgh with panoramic views across the city. It is an opportunity to relax, make new acquaintances or catch up with old ones, following the day of workshops and before the start of the two full days programme of the main conference. You will be welcomed by dancers from JDW Highland Dancing performing some traditional Highland dances. A nominal fee will be accepted on the door and donated to the Glasgow and Edinburgh Childrens Hospital charities.

Sightseeing Run

Friday 6th October

7:15 AM

Conferences are great but can be quite intense. The organising committee is offering you the chance to start the Friday with a re-energising sightseeing running tour around Edinburgh. Run Details: 6km with 100m total ascent (can be adjusted to suit participants, all fitness levels welcome) An interesting route taking in many of Edinburghs famous sights including: the Meadows, Greyfriars Bobby, West Bow/Victoria Street/Terrace (as seen in Harry Potter), Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, St Giles Cathedral, the Scottish Parliament, the Palace of Holyrood and Salisbury Crags Facilities: For a small fee a locker can be used at the Royal Commonwealth Pool where you can then have a shower/get changed after your run, ready to take on a Day 2 of the conference!

Gala Dinner

Thursday 5th October

7:00 PM 

The museum tour for those who have booked is 6-7 PM. Welcome drinks are at 7 PM with dinner being served from 7:30 PM. Then dance the night away with the 7 Hills Ceilidh Band. If you don’t know how to ceilidh, don’t worry all will be explained. It’s a great opportunity to network and socialise with all your colleagues from far and wide, enjoy some food and drink. Wear your dancing shoes and be prepared to have fun the Scottish way!
